Life Update #1

By

For my first post in April, I’ll start with a little life update. The last two weeks have honestly been a lot – and I want to give you a deeper insight into my thoughts since I’ve been here.

I’m finally starting to settle into life here and finding my rhythm, which feels so nice. It really calms me down and makes me sooo happy. I’m in love with Australia – I totally feel the vibe and the people here! I love stepping out of my comfort zone and throwing myself into new stuff, but it’s also pretty exhausting to constantly be in new situations: new uni, new people, new culture, new home, different language, etc.

At the beginning, I stressed myself out a lot by constantly thinking: “You need to socialize, you have to make memories, you have to meet new people and get into everything here faaaast. You need to make the most of every day and always do something exciting like a fun trip or whatever.”
Because in my first three weeks, it felt more like a holiday – I wasn’t even at my apartment and did some trips. So when I finally moved into my new home (the student accommodation) and started settling into my actual life here, everyone else was already in their routine and had their friend groups. That stressed me out – for literally no reason. But I guess that’s just the kind of person I am, and I definitely need to learn to be more chill in these situations.

I was super busy meeting new people, socializing, setting up my room, keeping up with my sports, and getting into uni life. And of course, I loved it too – but I think it’s kinda normal to feel overwhelmed at the beginning.
Now I feel like I’ve mostly found my place here, and that gives me a lot of peace. I’m not stressing as much anymore, I’ve found some adorable friends I love spending time with and making memories. I even created a little weekly schedule for myself – for example, every Thursday I play Pickleball with friends at uni. Just for fun, and I can tell you: it’s actually a lot of fun!

I also got a gym membership and I’m totally obsessed with my gym – but I’ll save that for a separate gym post. So stay tuned for that one!

I’ve also had my first uni assignments already, and they went pretty well (I think haha). But I’ll write more about that in a uni-specific post too.

I hope this gave you a little insight into my last weeks – and that it wasn’t too chaotic or confusing!

See ya, xo Lea ❤
